ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
  The L. Dexter Woodman Scholarship Fund (LDWSF) was created in 1988 in memory of L. Dexter Woodman, son of the founder of Woodman’s of Essex and longtime owner of the establishment. Throughout his life, Dexter ("Deck") took great joy in serving and supporting the people who lived on and visited his beloved Cape Ann. The LDW Scholarship Fund now awards up to $30,000 per year to local students. Along with two students chosen specifically for the LDW scholarship, the fund awards additional scholarships through the Massachusetts Restaurant Education Foundation, the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce and the Essex Lions Club as well as sponsoring 25 honors scholars through the North Shore Chamber of Commerce. So each year, 8 scholarships are now available to local students thanks to the LDW Scholarship Fund. To date, a total of $511,000 has been given out over the past 20 years!
