ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
  The L. Dexter Woodman Scholarship Fund (LDWSF) was created in 1988 in memory of L. Dexter Woodman, son of the founder of Woodman’s of Essex and longtime owner of the establishment. Throughout his life, Dexter ("Deck") took great joy in serving and supporting the people who lived on and visited his beloved Cape Ann. The LDWSF now awards up to $40,000 per year to local students. Along with two students chosen specifically for the LDWSF scholarship, the fund has awards additional scholarships through the Massachusetts Restaurant Education Foundation, the North Shore Chamber of Commerce, the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce and the Essex Lions Club. So each year, 8 scholarships are now available to local students thanks to the LDWSF. To date, a total of $481,500 has been given out over the past 19 years!
