Two events, held annually to benefit the scholarship are The Taste of Essex and Deck’s Day for Dubbers:

The Taste of Essex

Friday May 2, 2008 at The Essex Room in Essex, MA
The Taste of Essex is one of North Shore’s premier food- and wine- tasting galas and hosts over 35 food and beverage venders. It is held at The Essex Room, the elegant function hall located marsh-side behind Woodman’s restaurant. Each year, the event has a theme and in the past has been home to such affairs as “Hollywood Comes to Cape Ann,” “Fabulous Fifties,” and most recently, “A Fistful o’ Dollars for Scholars,” a country-western themed night of roping and riding. Whatever the theme, the event is fabulously entertaining; filled with great food, great fun, and benefits a great cause. We are “Roaring into our Twenties” and celebrating 20 years of scholarships and the students who have earned them. Please join us at our “Deco & Diamonds” Gala Anniversary. This year includes a Diamond Raffle . . . when purchasing your tickets for Deco & Diamonds there are 2 types available; the customary ticket at $60.00 which includes entrance, tasting and entertainment and the second Diamond Ticket at $160.00 which includes the prior PLUS a chance at $10,000.00 in DeScenza Diamonds. Deck’s Day for Dubbers

Deck’s Day for Dubbers is an annually anticipated golf tournament that is held at the Bass Rocks Golf Club in Gloucester, MA. The day includes 18 holes of golf, lunch on the course, prizes as well as a world famous Woodman’s Clambake Dinner. Also, thanks to the generosity of Don Sudbay of Sudbay Motors in Gloucester, there is usually a chance to win a free car as prize for a hole in one on a specific chosen hole.

Both events are considered the most popular spring events on Cape Ann.
