Homemade Apple Crisp Recipe by Teresa (Ellis) Eisenhauer
Teresa (Ellis) Eisenhauer was Gini Woodman’s best friend in the first grade, and remained so for the rest of her life. Generations of Woodmans looked forward to receiving her homemade apple crisp as a heart-felt Christmas gift.
Apple Crisp Ingredients
6-7 apples
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
½ teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup butter (melted)
How to make Apple Crisp

Preheat the oven to 350˚F. Peel and slice the apples. Place in a 8×10 buttered baking plate and set aside. In a medium bowl, mix the salt, flour, sugar, and baking powder together. Break the egg into the mixture and blend with fork to combine. Sprinkle the mixture over the apples. Sprinkle the top with the nutmeg and cinnamon, and spoon the melted butter over the dish. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes. Serves 6 to 8.
Recipe Note: You can use any tart apple of your choice.
